Fully Alive: Recovering Humanity Through The Arts

Watch This Forum

September 5, 2025

7:30 PM ET

Fletcher Hall

What does it mean for a human to be fully alive? Is a human only a thinking thing, or a living, breathing microcosm of beauty, flourishing, and delight?

Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts and The Veritas Forum present a unique event to explore the depths of creativity, faith, and human flourishing. A powerful evening, the event will feature soul-stirring music from acclaimed singer-songwriter Sandra McCracken, and a thought-provoking conversation on art and what it means to be fully alive between author Chigozie Obioma and former archbishop Rowan Williams.

Jubilee (Formerly Crux)

Duke Jubilee is a journal of Christian thought at Duke University. The former name “Crux” encompassed our desire to write about the intersection of faith and life, heaven and earth, the already and the not yet. It also symbolized our university’s prior commitment to lift high the cross of Christ as evidenced by the cross shape of West Campus, and the cross in the center of our seal.
