Tamyra Pierce, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor and Graduate Director of the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism at CSU Fresno. She holds a doctorate in Media Effects from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Pierce has most recently published articles on teens' use of MySpace and the content found on their personal sites in the Journal of Media Psychology. She has delivered her findings at several conferences per year and has appeared on numerous shows on both television and radio as an expert on Media Effects Research: Adolescents' Use of MySpace and the Dangers of Social Networking Sites & Content of MySpace sites. She is a blind reviewer for two journals and is deeply involved in the professional development of both undergraduate and graduate students on this campus. Dr. Pierce has been a member of four associations in her field, has won several Top Paper awards in the Research Division of the Broadcast Education Association (BEA), and is Co-Chair of the Swapshop Educational Division of the (BEA).
