Randy Harris serves as an instructor and as Spiritual Director in the Department of Bible, Missions, and Ministry at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. Before heading to Abilene, Harris taught at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee and preached at the Donelson Church of Christ in Nashville for nine years. Prof. Harris holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Harding University and a Master of Philosophy degree from Syracuse University. Prof. Harris teaches classes ranging from First-Year Bible courses to advanced preaching and theology. Harris is described by his colleagues as the only Church of Christ monk for his interest in contemplative prayer and for his time spent with different monastic traditions. Prof. Harris is also a PhD candidate at Syracuse University. He is a frequent public speaker, and most weekends of the year he is guest preaching for various churches.

Prof. Harris’ publications include: Godwork: Confessions of a Standup Theologian (Leafwood, 2009); and Soul Work: Confessions of a Part-Time Monk (Leafwood, 2011).
