Pandit Mahendra was born in Trinidad, West Indies in 1962. His interest in East Indian classical music brought him in contact with a world renowned author, poet and spiritual Guru – Prof. Hari Shanker Adesh.- Founder of the Bharatiya Vidya Sansthaan (Institute of Indian Knowledge). At the BVS he studied classical East Indian music, Hindi Literature, Sanskrit, Yoga and Hindu Philosophy with emphasis on Bhagawad Gita and Ramcharitramanas. He also received training in the oral tradition of becoming a Hindu Pandit (Priest). In 1994 he received his Bachelor of Indian Music (BI) from the BVS in Toronto, Canada. He helped found the Shiva Ganesh Mandir in Brampton, Ontario, Canada where he served as Head Pandit (Hindu Priest) from 1994 to 1999. In 1999 Pandit Mahendra received his BSEE from DeVry University Irving, TX. He is presently a Network Engineer at Verizon and also Spiritual Head at North Texas Hindu Mandir. He conducts all religious ceremonies and delivers lectures on Hindu philosophy.
