Irfan Ahmad, is President of the Board of Directors of Avicenna Community Health Center, a social entrepreneurial endeavor, providing high quality culturally competent preventive and curative healthcare services to the uninsured residents in Champaign County since 2009. Initiated in 2006-07 by the local Muslim community, it has evolved into an interfaith academic-community partnership. He obtained his B.Sc. from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois in Agricultural Engineering. He is the Executive Director at the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology and is research Faculty at the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Ahmad’s research interests involve bionanotechnology, nanomedicine, biosensors, agricultural machinery design, and precision agriculture. Prof. Ahmad is a former President of the Central Illinois Mosque and Islamic Center (CIMIC) Board of Directors, and is currently outreach coordinator at CIMIC.
