Carrie Miles, PhD is the president of Empower International Ministries which mobilizes local clergy and communities to promote gender equality in Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia and Burundi. She has published several books on the cultural and economic forces that shape family relationships. At Johns Hopkins she will be speaking from her latest book The Redemption of Love: Rescuing Marriage and Sexuality from the Economics of a Fallen World on the gospel’s power to transform marriage.

Dr. Miles is a senior scholar-in-residence at the Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University and a non-resident scholar at the Institute for the Studies of Religion at Baylor University. She holds a doctorate in social and organizational psychology. She graduated with her PhD from the University of Chicago.
