Bruce S. Thornton, Ph.D. is one of Fresno State's own, serving as professor and Coordinator of the Humanities Program. Thornton received his BA in Latin from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature—Greek, Latin, and English—from UCLA. His education spans both ancient and modern civilization, making him exceptionally qualified as an observer of modern trends and current issues, as well as a reviewer of cultural forms. Dr. Thornton's work has been widely published in such venues as National Review Online, The San Francisco Examiner, Religious Studies Review, Intercollegiate Review, The Washington Times, Los Angeles Times, and the American Journal of Philology.
