Dr. Anne M. Pearson teaches in the Department of Religious Studies at McMaster University. She specializes in Hinduism and South Asian religions. She has a long-standing interest in and involvement with interfaith dialogue in Hamilton.

Dr. Pearson’s doctorate was in the field of Hindu religious history, and her research has focused on Hindu ritual and the construction of meaning. More recently, she has studied Hinduism in the diasporic context, especially as it relates to gender and religion. She teaches a variety of thematic courses in Religious Studies, which feature topics such as gender, ecology, nonviolence, and has supervised a number of Arts & Science students’ theses in related areas.
