Dr. Taves graduated with an MA and Ph.D from the University of Chicago’s Divinity School and has gone on to become one of the most prominent scholars of religion in the country. She has served as acting Dean of the Claremont School of Theology, President of the American Academy of Religion, and was recently elected to the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Taves currently holds the Virgil Cordano Chair in Catholic Studies at UCSB, and structures both her classes and her research on questions in the study of religion that can be addressed from both the perspectives of the humanities and the sciences.
