Science and Faith
What is the relationship between science and the Christian faith? There is a common perception that Christianity and science are opposed: that Christians have consistently resisted scientific advances, and that science has repeatedly disproved the Christian story. Furthermore, science seems increasingly able to meet the needs that religion once claimed to satisfy: explaining how the world began, what human beings are, and how we should live. Some have even suggested that science is our only tool for accessing objective truth.
But is this narrative of the relationship between science and faith accurate? Have Christians always opposed science? Has science discredited the Christian faith? Does science have the monopoly on truth and can it meet our human needs purpose and an overarching story?
Is there truth beyond science?
