The Resurgence of Christianity as a World Religion

Lamin Sanneh
Hope College
9 January 2009
Christianity is undergoing an unprecedented resurgence as a world religion, but what does this mean? What distinguishes Christianity as a religion? Lamin Sanneh, Professor of Missions & World Christianity and Professor of History at Yale, argues that Christianity is the greatest multicultural movement the world has ever seen, citing as evidence its transformation from language to language, place to place, culture to culture, and person to person. Prof. Sanneh concludes by exploring the implications of Christianity's new burgeoning growth for individuals in the western world.
