Mark Husbands
Professor of Reformed Theology, Hope College
Mark Husbands holds the Leonard and Marjorie Maas Chair in
Reformed Theology at Hope College. He holds a Ph.D. in Theology from the
University of St. Michael's College, (University of Toronto) where he wrote on
Barth’s Ethics of Prayer, Ontology and Moral Action under the direction of Dr. John Webster (Aberdeen). While
primarily concerned with the moral theology of Karl Barth, professor Husbands’
scholarly work demonstrates a genuine commitment to the integration of faith
and learning. This is on display in publications and scholarly presentations on
topics as diverse as the doctrine of the Trinity, Scripture, theological
anthropology, political theology, women in ministry, world Christianity,
HIV/AIDS, justice and the environment. Theological and cultural interests have
led him to address the work of Gregory of Nyssa, Calvin, P.T. Forsyth,
Bonhoeffoer, T.F. Torrance, Martin Luther King Jr., Archbishop David Gitari,
Miroslav Volf, Karl Barth, and theological significance of Mozart, Verdi, and
U2.
