John Mutter

Director of the Fellows Program, Earth Institute

Currently the Director of the Fellows Program in the Earth Institute, John Mutter is also a professor at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences and SIPA where he lectures on a wide range of environmental and sustainable development issues. He is the author and co-author of more than 70 articles in scientific and popular publications. Currently focused on employing scientific advances in developed countries to elevate conditions in developing countries, he works with the Millennium Village project and the International Council on Human Rights Policy to create a rights-based approach to sustainable economic growth. He received a B.S from the University of Melbourne, an M.S from the University of Sydney, and a Ph.D in Marine Geophysics from Columbia.
