Annette Kim

Associate Professor in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Annette Kim received her bachelor’s in Architecture and Studio Art from Wellesley College, and later received her Master in Public Policy from Harvard and her Ph.D. in Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently associate professor in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at MIT, where she specializes in developing countries, researching issues including affordable housing and property rights reform. She is the author of ‘Learning’ to be Capitalists: Entrepreneurs in Vietnam’s Transition Economy and has contributed to numerous scholarly journals on development. She has additionally served as a consultant to the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements, the World Bank, and several African and Asian governments.
