J. Budziszewski

Professor of Government, University of Texas, Austin

J. Budziszewski, professor of government and philosophy at the University of Texas, Austin, is an authority on what philosophers call "natural law" and St. Paul called the law "written on the heart."  He is especially interested in conscience and moral self-deception.  His most recent book, On the Meaning of Sex, was published this spring, and he is completing a book about Thomas Aquinas's theory of law, forthcoming from Cambridge University Press.  Professor Budziszewski has also written several books for young people, including How to Stay Christian in College.

Professor Budziszewski earned his doctorate from Yale University in 1981, and specializes in the relations among ethical theory, political theory, and Christian theology.
