Jesus is both a divine member of the Trinity and a man - fully man and fully God. He was with God in the beginning - the Word God spoke to create our universe (Gen 1:3, Col 1, Hebrews 1) who became a man (John 1) and came to earth to teach us the way the truth and the life, as well as to rescue us from death and sin through His sacrifice on the cross. Through this saving act we are freed and cleansed and given a way to live in an eternal relationship with God and to be guided, comforted, taught and sustained by the Holy Spirit who lives inside us. By confessing and following Him many great gifts are given us - forgiveness, salvation, self-knowledge, the mind of Christ, and grace to flourish as a human being in service to others.
