What helped you come to the realization that there was a God and why was Christ the path instead of some other religion?

Actually a Native American friend helped me following a very significant dream in which I saw Jesus. This gentleman met me and led me to begin to read the Bible. Then I also began to go to Bill Gothard conferences and to a Benedictine Monastery. As I read the Bible and met others and began to have friendships with strong believers, I began to see the principles explained in the Bible are operative and true. But I would credit my friend who helped me at first (and still) as the single most important influence in my finding and following Christ. By the way for those of you who are students, he had been a graduate student. Though I was one of his professors, he clearly taught me more than I ever taught him.
