Beauty in Art: Creativity, God, and Reality

February 8, 2007 at (TBD)
(location TBD)
Presenters: Makoto Fujimura
Coco Fusco, Artist

Art is not merely the exercise of capturing images on canvas, film and other media; it is an expression of the artist's perception of truth and reality. What are the limits of this subjective expression? Are there objective standards for measuring qualities such as beauty, or do they exist only in "the eye of the beholder"? Tonight, Coco Fusco and Mako Fujimura, two artists based in New York, discuss their work, and the impact that artistic expression has on our understanding of truth and ultimate reality. This event was moderated by Alf Bishai, Professor of Music at NYU.
